Jakarta, 14 December 2023 - TRINSEO, a global material solutions provider, is ready to have a positive impact on society through the Volunteer Day initiative, which focuses on tree planting activities and waste management education. In collaboration with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Parks and City Forest Service, this initiative aims to encourage sustainable change and develop green spaces for a healthier environment. "As we know, in recent times we have faced a common problem in terms of decreasing the quality of the green environment. We are grateful for the initiative initiated by Trinseo in order to improve the performance of green open spaces in Jakarta," said Head of the Green Route Division, Parks Service and City Forest of DKI Jakarta Province, Herlina Merinda, Wednesday (13/12).

As a company that is part of Responsible Care® Indonesia, Trinseo upholds sustainable values and social responsibility. Responsible Care® Indonesia itself is a voluntary initiative of the global chemical industry which is designed to improve and increase the environmental performance, health and safety of facilities, processes and products. In this case, Trinseo prioritizes sustainability aspects which cover various focuses, including climate change. Taking place in Taman Dafici, Cipedak Village, Jagakarsa District, this initiative is not just about planting trees; but it’s more than that, it is about establishing a sense of shared responsibility towards the environment. "Since 2014 we have been running this program with the aim of involving communities and society in concrete actions to maintain sustainable aspects in our daily lives," said Dony Wahyudi, Director of PT Trinseo Materials Indonesia. "Through tree planting activities, we believe that this small action will have a big impact in creating positive change and a sustainable environment," he added.

Trinseo Volunteer Day empowers the community to exchange waste for trees, today's participants activity is Putra Pertiwi Vocational School, where students bring their trash in exchange for trees. This initiative is in line with Trinseo's broader efforts to promote waste management and recycling initiatives, driving collective efforts towards a greener and more sustainable future. The tree planting initiative is a small action that shows Trinseo's greater commitment. In the future, Trinseo, through the Yok Yok Ayok Daur Ulang! (YYADU!), the plan is to expand its reach to schools in the coming year. This program aims to educate and implement waste management practices, forming a culture of waste management and recycling in the school environment. "This planting activity is only the beginning. Through the Yok Yok Come on Recycle! program, we will visit schools, share knowledge with future generations about waste management and recycling, as well as environmental responsibility. "This activity will also be carried out together with our recycling partner, Kita Olah Indonesia," added Hanggara Sukandar, President Director of PT Trinseo Materials Indonesia. Trinseo Volunteer Day is proof of Trinseo's dedication to a sustainable environment and community welfare. By joining forces with local authorities and implementing a comprehensive education program, Trinseo aims to inspire positive change and encourage a greener and more sustainable future.
